Shared Borders

The fastest, easiest way to provide your visitors
with an easily navigated site.

You can access shared borders via Format on the menu bar, then choosing Shared Borders.

This is the Shared Borders dialog box.

Shared borders are easy to set up and change.

  • Choose whether you want the shared borders applied to all pages, or only the current page using the radio buttons at the very top of the dialog box.
  • The view under the radio buttons is a page diagram with shared borders chosen for all 4 sides of the page.
    • Use the check boxes to the right to choose the which shared borders you want to use. You'll notice the top and left borders ask if you want to include navigation. (I used the top border to navigate to the home page and all of the children pages to the home page. The left border is used for the same level pages. (You can take a quick look at the Navigation tutorial to see what is meant about child pages, it's just like a family tree!)

The other fantastic thing about shared borders is if you put it on one page, it will automatically be there on every page! internal links, external links, advertisements, courtesy links, your favorite graphic, anything!

After you have created your shared borders, and opened a page, you can decide which links you want in them. You will see:  Comment: This border appears on all pages of your web. Replace this comment with your own content.  If you right click over the comment in the top or left borders, (if you chose to use navigation bars in your shared borders) you will see navigation bar properties. Click on it and you will be able to choose which pages you want included on that particular bar.
